I started out on the tech side of things before making the leap into instructional design. These days I work with faculty to build online courses in Canvas LMS, and I run professional development workshops to help colleagues level up their teaching toolkit.
My tech background never really left me though!
One of my favorite parts of the job right now is exploring AI — especially prompting techniques — and turning what I learn into knowledge-sharing resources for my co-workers. There's something really satisfying about taking a technical idea and making it click for someone who's never touched it before. That's the whole job of instructional design, really.
I've been known to go down rabbit holes about gear too — recently that meant researching external SSD options for recording video on my iPhone. A person needs hobbies within hobbies.
